Art Groups:   Once you become a member of Hutt Art you may join any of our Art Groups.  Below is a brief outline of all our current groups.  Please contact the office for more information.

 

Colourfest:            Monday 9.30am-2.30pm                                   

Come along and join our fun filled morning.  Enjoy your morning tea and lunch and good company while painting in any style you choose.  You are all welcome.

 

Depictions:              Monday 7.30pm-9.30pm                                 

We’re a friendly, untutored group of artists painting various topics and styles in various media to an eclectic mix of quiet background music. Help and advice on your paintings is also available, if you want it, from the more experienced artists in the group.
 

The Rising Stars:  Tuesday 9.30-12pm                                          

We are a friendly group, painting in Acrylic, Oil, Watercolour and pencil drawing.  We have morning tea.  We choose our own topics to paint and advice is available to people if required from experienced painters in the group.

 

Brushstrokes:       Tuesday 1pm-4pm                                              

A lovely group of Artists who thoroughly enjoy the work they do in fantastic surroundings.

 

Life Art Group:     Tuesday 7.30pm-9.30pm                                   

The model is posed for two hours, allowing time for more finished work and the opportunity to use a wide variety of media including oils, watercolour pencils, acrylics, charcoal and pastels.  We have a good group of models from which to work and the studio is well set up with good lighting, drawing tables and easels.  Note – there is a fee charged for the model.

 

Colourwheel:       Wednesday 9.30am-12.30pm                          

An enthusiastic group of painters nurturing each others talents.

 

Portrait Class:        Thursday 9.30am- 12.00pm                            

This group has been meeting for as long as the Society has been in existence.  The model usually comes for two weeks running.  It is a friendly group and it’s amazing the quality of work produced.  Everyone uses whatever medium they prefer and we help each other if asked.  Please do come along if you are interested, you will be more than welcome.  Note – there is a fee charged for the model.

 

Buzz:                       Friday 9.30am-12.00pm                                    

A lively mix of painters, with styles ranging from traditional to abstract, and all mediums from pencils to oils are utilised.  A relaxed atmosphere where anything goes!

 

Pottery Groups:   Monday 7pm-9pm                                              

                                Wednesday 9.30am – 12.00pm                       

There are no formal teaching sessions at these times and participants are welcome to make what they choose.  Experienced potters of the group are always willing to help anyone in need.  At other times potters are welcome to use the facilities provided they leave things as they find them or you may like to try:

 

Monday Madness:  9.30 onwards                                                   

An experimental group that enjoys pushing the limits in ceramics. 

 

Anything Goes:  Thursdays 9.30am onwards                                    

We are a small group of people who enjoy dabbling in a variety of creative pursuits.  This is an anything goes group – so if you wish to use found objects, mixed media, painting, pottery, whatever you feel like on the day, please feel welcome to join us.      

 

Weavers:               Monday 9am-12.00pm                                      

We are an untutored group of active weavers who use the equipment and resources of the Society while enjoying each others company. We share ideas and techniques and help each other with planning and executing projects. We meet regularly on Monday mornings and often also weave on Wednesday mornings. New members are welcome. Some experience in weaving is necessary.

 

Embroidery:         Monday 7.30pm-9.00pm                                              

Enjoy doing your craft in the company of others who also enjoy the craft.  A wide variety of stitching styles are enjoyed by the members of this group.

 

Porcelain Art:       Monday 10am-2pm                                            

A lovely group of ladies who come together every Monday to paint.  We are an untutored group who help each other.  We bring our lunch and finish between 1.30 and 2.00.

 

Printmakers:        Tuesdays 10am-4pm (group is full)

We were a small untutored group that meet once a month to share ideas on all aspects of printmaking but this year as the interest in printmaking has increased we have expanded to meet our members needs  by meeting on a Tuesday.  As members of the Society we have access to a printing press and other necessary equipment.  New members are always welcomed.  Previous experience is necessary.

 

Book Group:         1st Saturday of every month                            

Not your average book group, we don’t talk about books we have read, we rip, stick, cut, dye, crunch, collage, glue, hammer, stitch, paint, print, stamp and create homemade books that are full of adventure and fun.
